IN SYNC: Christ at the Centre

There is a way you can be very busy for God, and yet you slowly drift from Him and His visions.

As a believer, one of the most important things to understand in your walk with the Lord is that at the centre of everything is Christ. There is a way you can be very busy for God, and yet you slowly drift from Him and His visions.

Most of the time, you might think this isn't possible, after all, you are carrying out every service in the church and also flowing in the supernatural in His name but in cases where you continuously have meetings, the responsibilities that you carry grow, your schedule is continuously filled up with ministry and service and all the right things, you may forget the very person all of it is supposed to be about.

Receiving more at the camp meeting is great. Prophesying concerning the growth of the church is wonderful. Your own spiritual growth that has produced evident results is worth being grateful for, but is Christ Himself, rooted in your heart, dwelling in your decisions and the main motivation for every movement you make?

Look at what apostle Paul says in:

Philippians 1:20-21

20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

This is a man who made Christ the centre of everything he did to the extent that life itself had no other definition for him if not for the growth of others as well. This is the kind of heart posture you are being called into, where Christ is not one of the things your life is moving around but the very thing your life is based on.

Every time you go deeper in devotion, it is to the end that Christ is glorified. Every time you press further in consecration, it is to the end that Christ is glorified. Every time you engage the word, show up to serve, grow in spiritual maturity, take on greater responsibility, your conscious awareness in all of it should be that Christ is the point. He is what all of it is for.

Paul understood this, and you can see that it shaped everything about how he lived. And that's why you can see him say in:

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

In Ephesians 3:16-17:

He prays for the church at Ephesus and says: New King James Version

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love...

Christ dwelling in your heart can be likened to taking residence there. Can Christ be so established in your heart that everything flowing out comes from a place where it is all about Him?

In this season, it is evident that individually and collectively as the body of Christ, you are being called to greater responsibilities. You have received such great graces and direction from the Windsor camp meeting, and your heart is surely expectant for even more at the coming Lagos camp meeting. But above all of that, can Christ be rooted in your heart? Can He dwell in your decisions and movements?

As you go deeper in devotion, in consecration, in the word, in prayer, in your growth and service, remain fully conscious that none of it is the point in itself. The point is that Christ is glorified. The point is that He is at the centre and everything else revolves around Him.

Do not let the busyness of what God is doing through you make you lose sight of the intimacy of who God is to you. In all things, let God be glorified.
