THE LIVING WORD: Unfailing

You can stand on the assurance of the word the Lord has spoken.

“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”

Psalm 33:6 (NKJV)

Before technological advancements, kings ruled through written decrees. A decree carried the king’s seal, and the seal made his word final. The king did not have to be present because his written word carried the same authority as his own. Whatever the decree said was settled, and no one in the kingdom could treat it as a suggestion.

The same thing can be said about the word of God. In the beginning, God spoke, and the world came to be. He spoke, and creation had no choice but to respond. This is the God you serve!

Isaiah 55:11

New King James Version

11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

The Word accomplishes what it is sent to do! It does not wander off or come back void. The word of God stands. Whatever He says will come to pass. You can stand on the assurance of the word the Lord has spoken.

As a result, this must be your life disposition. Your assessment or judgment of any situation must be from the word of God, not from how things look or how you feel in your present situation. This is not new; countless times Scripture shows us examples of those who stood on God’s word.

A great example is Jesus in Matthew chapter 4. He was tempted by the devil three times, and each time He responded with the word of God, It is written, and the enemy had nothing left to say! He brought what God had already said into the room, and that settled it.

Another example is Peter on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:16-21) when the crowd thought the believers were drunk due to their speech. He reminded them of what God said in Joel 2:28-29 before sharing the gospel with them.

Joel 2:28-29

New King James Version

28 And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.

29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

Likewise, whatever situation you find yourself in, you must look at it through the lens of God’s word. In a season where things are not going right, speak God’s word to the situation.

When it comes to your walk with God, you are not confused about His plan for you because He has spoken about you. You can stand on the word of God and do not doubt that it will surely come to pass.

Prayer

Father, help me to see every situation through Your word, and to stand on what You have spoken, knowing You are faithful to fulfil it.
